Have not made any updates in awhile. Promise to update more often.
Finished the Vancouver Half Marathon in 2:24. Not the fastest time but I’ve never claimed to be a fast runner. :)
It was a good race. It saw me prove somethings to myself.
1) I did my best. I ran the race well. I started of slowly and I pushed myself hard during the second half. I didn’t totally exhaust myself and have to walk large parts of the last couple miles (like I did during my first half marathon). That’s something I felt really good about. It’s definitely something I can build on.
2) My fitness has increased over the last 12 months. I didn’t train as well for Vancouver as I would have liked. I stopped during March to rest and heal up from some aches and pains. The longest run I did was 80 minutes the weekend before. I didn’t feel any ill effects during or after the race.
What’s next? The Seafair Half Marathon in early July and hopefully the SF 1st Half Marathon (which I still need to sign up for).
Nice job on the race, Daniel. Good to see you back at it.
And that 80 minute long run was a seriously long run. That length of time on the road takes alot out of you.
